It’s the sitting-with-someone-week-after-week part of Shay’s story that stuck with me. Loneliness being something small and regular and human rather than a big abstract problem — that matches what I’ve seen in my own neighborhood, where the same four people show up early every time and that’s the whole point.
I had a small version of it last month: a coffee-and-chat morning at the senior center near me needed a flyer, and I am not a designer. I typed one sentence about what the morning was for and shimmerpic.com came back with a laid-out poster — headline type, palette and composition already picked, exported at print size for the copy shop. The address line in the small print drifted on the first run, so I shortened the wording and ran it again. Twelve people came, and nobody asked who made the poster.
