Our Guest Bartending fundraiser on Thursday, October 15 is possible because of a generous group of local sponsors. Their support moves us closer to our $15,000 goal and keeps trained college students showing up in the homes of older adults and people managing chronic illness.
Each of these sponsors meets older adults at a different point in their journey. Together, with partners like Lori’s Hands, they help people age with dignity and with the right support around them.
Presenting Sponsor: Vital Sign Home Care
Venus Ricks, RN, founded Vital Sign Home Care after caring for her grandmother, who lived with dementia. She watched her grandmother handled as a task rather than a person. Later, as a nurse, she saw the same gap: the medical side of care was there, but the human side often wasn’t. Years after that, Venus had a stroke herself, which deepened her understanding of what her clients and their families face.
Today, her Lutherville-based agency provides skilled and non-medical in-home care in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, plus Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford, and Howard counties. Its services include dementia care, stroke recovery, post-rehab support, hospice support, and respite for family caregivers. Venus was also featured in Baltimore Magazine’s Women Who Move Maryland 2026.
Why this partnership fits
Lori’s Hands and Vital Sign start from the same belief: the people we serve are people first. Vital Sign’s caregivers bring clinical skill and hands-on care. Our student volunteers bring help with everyday tasks and regular companionship. Different roles, same goal: helping people stay safe, connected, and at home.
You can see the partnership in action, too. This fall, 50 of our Baltimore student volunteers are wearing T-shirts with Vital Sign’s logo on visits across the city.

Lynn Paxson started Oasis Senior Advisors Delaware in 2015 and has been helping local families ever since.
