We are thrilled to announce a pivotal moment in the history of Lori’s Hands – the appointment of our new Executive Director, Zach Barton! Zach brings a wealth of nonprofit experience and passion for our mission to Lori’s Hands.

Our organization has experienced remarkable growth and progress thanks to the vision and leadership of past Executive Director Maggie Ratnayake. We are thrilled that Maggie remains with Lori’s Hands in a newly created Program Director role. Maggie’s exceptional expertise, insights, and unwavering support in program creation and implementation will prove invaluable to Lori’s Hands as we embark on an exciting new phase of expanding and amplifying our impact.

Maggie reflected on her journey with Lori’s Hands, “The past 6 years have been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue contributing to the organization’s growth in a new capacity.”

Lori’s Hands builds mutually beneficial partnerships between community members with chronic illness and college students, fostering empathy, connection, and resilience. Students provide practical assistance to support community members’ independence at home, and community members share their health and life experiences to support students’ learning. Our service areas include Newark, Delaware; Baltimore, Maryland; and Metro Detroit, Michigan.

Under Zach’s leadership, we will strengthen our outreach through strategic partnerships and fundraising initiatives, propelling the organization toward a future defined by his visionary planning. Zach stated, “It is an honor to join Lori’s Hands and work alongside such a dedicated team and community. I am eager to begin this journey and build upon the incredible foundation laid by our dedicated staff, volunteers, clients, donors, and program partners. Together, I am confident that we can further advance our mission while continuing to make a positive impact on so many lives.”

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Zach Barton (zach@lorishands.org) as our new Executive Director, and stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting new chapter together! For more information, visit www.lorishands.org, and follow us on social media.
